A specimen is not a parcel. The system does not treat it like one.

The check distinguishes three kinds of shipments: category A, category B and exempt specimens. The distinction decides packaging, vehicle and route.

Between routine and a UN number.

Most runs are routine, until a specimen is aboard that is not. Whether a shipment falls under UN 3373 or pulls entirely different rules as category A is decided today by one person's experience, and separation from other cargo stays a shouted instruction.

How a shipment travels.

Every order passes six stations. Marked are the ones where this trade has rules of its own.

  1. Created

The category is a required field: A, B or exempt. Without it no order comes into being.

  2. Checked

UN 2814 and UN 3373 are kept apart, with the consequences for packaging and carriage. Separation from foodstuffs is blocking, not conditional: the conflict stops the dispatch.

  3. Assigned

The request reaches only partners allowed to carry the shipment. Whoever does not meet the requirement is not asked.

  4. In transit

The tour runs stop by stop in the computed order. The app keeps working in a dead zone, because everything is on the device.

  5. Delivered

Handover against proof, with photo and signature on the order. Receipt is documented before the driver moves on.

  6. Settled

The billing line item comes into being with the proof, not with an approval at month's end.

What Beelog does not do.

Beelog does not classify specimens. Whether a shipment is category A or B is the lab's decision; what the system takes over is everything after: the rules that follow from the category, the blocking separation from foodstuffs, and the complete proof of handover.

Questions about lab and medical transport

How does the system distinguish category A and B?

Category A (UN 2814) and category B (UN 3373) pull different packaging and carriage rules. The check applies them automatically once the category is on the order.

May specimens travel with other freight?

Not with foodstuffs: that separation is blocking in the validator. The order is never planned that way, instead of being rearranged at the dock.

How is the handover documented?

With photo, signature and timestamp directly on the order. The proof is there before the billing line item comes into being.
